There has been limited recruitment and places have been filled for start dates right up to March. There

within the company. Later this year a J41 sim will be installed at Humberside. CV's should be sent to Capt Steve
Jenkins, Chief Pliot at the Humberside address. Generally, the selection process involves an interview and if

easyJet
23/11/2006
•No new contact with the company, but the following is still useful information;
easyJet has strengthened its ability to assess candidates. Selection is now completed either in the morning,
followed by a sim in the afternoon or in the afternoon followed by a sim the next morning.
• easyJet is in the process of expanding its training department by circa 40% year-on-year in order to train the
volumes that are now starting to come through.
• In 2006, the airline will have recruited 350 pilots and promoted over 100 SFOs to command internally.
• In 2007, the airline plans to recruit 450 new pilots with continued growth across the whole of the current network
and includes a new base in Madrid. Internal commands are likely to number around 150.
• The effective execution of this will be managed by opening the tap up to those who can apply initially but
maintaining current standards on both selection and of course training. Having resolved the pay negotiations and
the rostering agreement for Winter 06 the airline is now more attractive to new comers from other airlines and in the
last 6 months the airline has had a number of former easyJet pilots return.
• Revised ‘Entry Criteria’ are:
o Non-rated co-Pilots (TRSS): minimum of 500 hours TT and multi crew experience. Air transport company or
military background (minimum medium/heavy turboprop)
o Non-rated co-Pilots (Direct Entry): minimum of 500 hours TT and multi crew experience (Medium/Heavy Jet) or
Military heavy transport/large jet.
o Type-rated co-Pilots: minimum of 50 hrs on type (this allows us to tap into the pilots from airlines who allow pilots
to pay for their conversion and pay for their line training by the hour).
o Direct Entry Captains (Rated and Non-Rated): minimum 3,000 factorised hours TT and at least 500 factorised
hours in command of a medium to heavy commercial jet (current command)
o Fast-track Commands: As above but no current command time and would include an assessment by the TRE at
the end of the sim stage.
Recommendations are a very good way of being noticed officially by the company and the minimum experience levels
are:
DEP
• Multi-crew Airline Experience
• If Type-Rated (A319/B737) - 50 hrs on type
• If non-rated – 500 hrs (commercial) medium/large jet (incl BAE146)
• For Direct Entry Command - 3000 hrs to include at least 500 hrs in command (ideally current command –
but will review on a case-by-case basis)
TRSS
• Multi-crew Airline experience
• 500 hrs heavy turboprop or Light Jet

Flybe
23/11/2006
The Company has taken over BA Connect and so it is a time of great change for the company and many hundreds of
pilots. The first of 14 ordered Embraer 195s ( and 12 options) has arrived and is in service. The 146 fleet will therefore
start to reduce. The first pair of 195s will probably be based at Birmingham, then followed by one at Exeter and then
one at Southampton by December. The company had needed 100 pilots per year for the next 4 years, approx 10
pilots/month, including DE Captains, for the Dash 8 -400 fleet, as the options for 20 of these aircraft look like being
exercised that will grow the fleet to 41 aircraft .This figure/requirement will no doubt change given the BA Connect pilot
complement. There is a Training bond of 3years/£13.5k for all fleets and does not depreciate with time (a square
bond). All application and recruitment details from www.flybe.com
